The decomposed body of the former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Albert Ilemobade who was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen last week was on Sunday found hidden in a store in his Ijapo Estate residence in Akure, Ondo state capital. He was reportedly abducted last Monday along with his gateman and was said to be taken to an unknown destination until his body was found by security operatives. Sources said the Octogenarian’s decomposed body was found after the arrest of two of his domestic staff by security agents in Ogun state while trying to sell the Toyota RAV4 Jeep stolen from the late Ilemobade’s residence. The two suspects confessed to killing Ilemobade, hiding his corpse in a store which housed the generating set before running away with his Vehicle which they planned to sell. Following the arrest of the two suspects in Ogun state, the police in Ondo state went to the deceased house in ijapo estate, Akure for a raid and investigation but found the late VC’s corpse in the store. When journalist visited the scene on Sunday, the body had been removed by detectives to the mortuary for autopsy.
The attention of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has been drawn to the mischievous speculations on the social media that the planned relocation of some Boko Haram convicts to some prisons in Anambra State was done with his tacit approval and endorsement. I wish to categorically dismiss these speculations, hearsay and beer parlour banters as fundamentally untrue and should be disregarded by Nigerians.
Hard Facts
The fact is that when governor Obiano got wind of the planned relocation of these high risk prisoners to Anambra State, he quickly swung into action and contacted the relevant authorities to seek clarifications on the matter after which he raised several objections to the plan.
Among Governor Obiano’s many objections are -
The sojourn of Iyom Uche Ekwunife in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District may be short-lived following the sudden turn of events at the Anambra Election Petition Tribunal holding in Awka. In a surprise move, the man who was initially returned by INEC as winner in the House of Representatives for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Dr. Nnamdi Eze of PDP conceded defeat to Mr. Dozie nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Dr Eze and his party PDP accepted that Mr. Nwankwo is the real winner in the election based on the computation of total results collated at the respective Polling Booths in the constituency and should have been declared winner. The dramatic turn of event was said to have surprised the Head of the Tribunal, Justice Nayal Aganaba who reportedly expressed shock at the development.

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Paulinus Ezeokafor has charged journalists to discharge their responsibilities effectively without fear or favour.
Bishop Ezeokafor who gave the charge at St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral, Awka while congratulating his media Aide, Mr. Abuchi Onwumelu who was recently honoured by social media journalists for his creative ingenuity and also for creating a Social media forum where media Practitioners interact and socialise, said journalists as purveyors of information occupy an important position in society and held the key to projecting rightful information that would enable the people to see things in the right perspective.
He said the Church would continue to support media practitioners with prayers stressing that the job of the media was to disseminate accurate information while calling on government at all levels to allow the media to practice their profession without any form of molestation, inducement or even threat to life.
According to Bishop Ezeokafor, ' Media practitioners should be given a free hand to operate; people should stop harassing them. They should be encouraged. Truly, journalists are endangered species. I want those in political positions to understand that they cannot do without the media. Even the Church cannot function properly without the media, that's why we are here praying for them,' Bishop Ezeokafor said.
The shrill claim by Mr Valentine Obienyem in several
weekend newspapers [June 13 – 14, 2015] that the Nkpor – Amawbia old road
recently commissioned by Governor Willie Obiano was started and completed by Mr
Peter Obi is incorrect and an unnecessary venture in controversy. Obi’s credentials as a former governor of
Anambra State are not under any danger of assault. His report card is out in
the public domain and as a public figure, no one individual or institution has
copyright on his record of service. On
the basis of verifiable accounts of his stewardship, leadership, social and
philosophical leanings, varying perceptions of his reputation have [naturally]
emerged.
The authorities of the Delta State University, Abraka on Saturday banned the wearing of miniskirts by female students.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Vincent Peretemode, in a statement made available to our correspondent, also ordered the reduction of fellowship centres in the school from over 80 to four.
The VC in the statement stated that the number of fellowships in the varsity’s three campuses portended crisis.
He said in the statement, “I have observed in the recent times that over 80 fellowship centres are on the three campuses. We cannot allow such. Fellowship centres have in recent time portended crisis that was almost unabated.”
He added that the school authorities also banned the wearing of miniskirts by female students.
The statement listed the four approved religious bodies to include Catholic, Anglican, Joint Christian Campus Fellowship and Our Saviours Chapel, as it indicated that there could be crisis among the students if the fellowship centres were not reduced.
The vice-chancellor said the number of religious centres in the institution was alarming, especially in Asaba campus totaling over 20. He stated that the figure tripled when added with that of Asaba campus.
Tragedy struck in Akure, Ondo state as the queen of Oba LuMure Ayelomi of Ayeka in Okitipupa
area of the state, Olori Dupe, was found dead after she was kidnapped ten days after, even when her abductors had collected N2m.
The kidnappers had requested for N30m from the traditional ruler who pleaded that they should consider the harsh economic realities in the country.
The queen’s corpse was dumped at the outskirts of Ode Aye along Ore Road.
Meanwhile, the Akungba-Akoko regent, Omosowon, and some of her aides were kidnapped along Ose- Owo expressway on their way from a public function in Akure.
The regent was held for two weeks because her kidnappers refused to reduce the N20m ransom they requested from her family and her community.
The intervention of the state government and security operatives, from within and outside the state, later paid off as the kidnappers den was invaded.
Omosowon, narrating her in the hands of her captors, said she was chained, blindfolded for two weeks under a cocoa tree.
She has since returned home but still visits the Trauma Centre in Ondo town for treatment following the injuries inflicted on her head by her abductors.

The secretary of the All Progressive Congress in the state, Mr. Chukwuma Agufufo has described the entire exercise as false and a disconnect between the state and federal government to know plans of government for the state.
